2024 calling. I’ve been smitten by one of these that I routinely see at my gym. I admit the 2025s that are just being introduced really look nice too.

Most of the AC problems (intermittant and permanent issues) in the SLK R 171 (2005 thru 2010 models) stem from 4 bad capacitors in the front SAM. The SAM circuit board has to be removed and cut open with a dremel tool. Replacement capacitors are all available from digikey. This is the only way to fix this issue; other than replacing the front SAM. (approx $ 4,000.00 at dealership) Replacing the SAM is no guaranteed fix. There is a detailed video on a mercedes blog but I can't remember which blog. Very challanging to fix but works. New caps have to be soldered in by a computer repair tech.

New to the 2series-life. I bought a 218d a few months back, im absolutely in LOVE with the car. How it handles, how it feels in the interior, looks... Best daily driver. Also allows quite alot of sporty driving, even as a diesel.

Thank you, very thoughtful job. The only downside I see, is this is more an infomercial than a review in that we did not hear any cons, just pros. And any/all cars have some cons, even if minor. Also, nothing on mileage, and predicted reliability. We all know parts and service for any BMW can be very high, so not needing a lot of repairs is a key consideration for most of us. Just the same, very dignified run down of the car, really enjoyed it, and you.

I wonder if the body design lends itself to a two tone color scheme.

How would you compare the handling of the slk350 to a Miata? I like the added power the Mercedes has. Would it be a good canyon carver?

I pick one of these up on Monday in the same colour and wheels as this. It's only done 44k miles. I've had two manual r170 320's previously too. But it'll be nice to have the newer variant with the 7speed auto and obviously more power 👌

TO BE BUYING YOUR SLK, WOW, It's been 7 year's since I bought mine a 2014 350 convertable black on black and so fine, do yourself a favor and have new Michelin super sport tires put on and relax as that's likely your last major exspence, wish I could buy all on todays market, they'll be a classic to own within 5 year's, enjoy your ride, I'm 82 and still love the breeze in my face. WoW, Thinking I may have been a Slk 350 lover by myself, but not at all, my 2014 350 is a special convertable that's really turned head's, and reliable for sure, after having my 350 for 7 years now it's amazing how really great it is to own a sporty convertable, with a retired income, but the expense isn't any more than owning an average priced sedan from one of the big three, so get the exspence over, after you get those four new Michelin super sport tires, as that's likely your last major expense. What a great review! i have watched so many reviews this week as we searched for our next car and none told the story of this car as you have. I'm used to BMW 3 size cars and I've been having a hard time thinking about getting something a little smaller, but i know i really should. i looked at the 1 Series, a nice enough car, a step too far for me. It didn't make sense to me that no one made a nice car to fit the Series 2 space. The Audi A3 is horrid, so dated, like something from the 90's. Mazda3 a maybe, or even the 6, but nahh. You have shown me what i wanted to believe. The 2 Series can be the midsize car while not making me feel cramped, missing features or, worst of all, slow! M Sport looks perfect. Thank you!

I love my 2017 230 xDrive. I live in Cleveland, so having AWD makes it a perfect year rounder. It's great in the city and even better on the highway (40mpg). I tracked it once and it by no means was the slowest car out there. Might give it a tune bc it's a little heavy, that other than that it is flawless imo

I have to admit after many years owning and driving probably 50 different cars of all price ranges expensive and cheap the 220i I rented was probably the best car I’ve ever driven. I thought I was just saying that to myself until I saw your video. After renting it so many times I think I’m going to buy one next

Spent £4k on an engine rebuild due to soft balancer sprockets for it to burst into flames 3 months later. Awful seats, cheap interior, choppy handling , modern Mercedes lousy quality. At speed you need to keep a firm hold with both hands.Replaced with a 635d which was better in every way ...even the roof was unreliable and misdiagnosed by the useless Mercedes Star diagnostics. Would never buy another Mercedes.These SLK lovers must have been driving Fords or something equally crap to rate these 😂

Any updates? Currently looking at a 2021 2 series with 56K. Clean carfax.

What about the way the 3-way hi-fi loudspeakers are integrated into the cabin? Most car manufacturers do audio as an afterthought, but this one was super-engineered. I think it could use a bit more amplification from the factory, but better electronics are now available compared to what they had in 2005. Speaker placement is excellent.

Evidently, with good maintenance and cool normal driving, the lifespan is very long. And for a Mercedes, its not too expensive to maintain. I am thinking about getting one but trying to also remember that materials really aren't making me happier lately.

Seen The SLK in shopping center car parks and 2 months ago saw A Manual for sale so bought it same day as rare in Australia great power and like the SLR look but not that cheap here as in USA or Europe but still a good deal. 2007 Model.

I just bought 1 three months ago. 2005 Mercedes Benz slk350...silver. I love driving it. And yes I get compliments everytime I drive it in 2024. Awesome car

Great video. I have a lovely A4 quattro that has some neat storage features. I'm missing a stick shift 2 seater though and have been drawn to SLK's for their retractable hardtop. I just hope that when I'm ready to buy about a year from now, I can find a manual. They're pretty rare and get great reviews.
